What We Believe
We believe that the Holy Bible (consisting of 66 books) is the only God-breathed scriptures on earth and, when handled properly, makes us wise unto salvation, equips us in every good work, and supplies us with all things that pertain unto life and godliness.
We believe the God of the Bible alone is eternal, with no beginning and no end; that all worlds were created by His pronouncement; that His eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen (understood) by the things that He has made; that creation was not the result of any random accident, but rather the result of a powerful and purposeful creator.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the uniquely begotten Son of God that became a man in the fulness of time so He could live a sinless life, become a prefect sacrifice, die on a cross for our sins, and before His body could decay He was raised from the dead by the glory of His Father; and that there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
We believe the good news (gospel) of Christ’s sacrifice is God’s saving power to everyone who believes, and that such belief in the gospel requires obedience to it; that no works of man before or after this obedience earns or merits salvation; that everyone who is saved is saved by grace through faith so that salvation was and is forevermore God’s gift; that scriptural faith is made complete by works of obedience as seen in the examples of Abraham and Rahab in James 2:20-26.
We believe the church of our Lord began in Jerusalem on the first pentecost after Jesus was raised from the dead; that the message of salvation spread from there to Judea, Samaria, and to the end of the earth; that what the believers back then were told to do in order to be forgiven remains the same for us today, namely—repent and be immersed in order to receive the the forgiveness of sins; that once forgiven the saved receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:37-38) having been rescued from the power of darkness by the washing away of sins in the blood of Christ and transferred into the kingdom of the Father’s beloved son (Col. 1:13).
We believe Jesus Christ is coming again, though no one knows just when; that there will be one resurrection from the dead when the hour comes when all those who are in the graves will hear His voice and come out, those who having done good things to a resurrection of life, but those who having done evil things to a resurrection of condemnation (John 5:28-29); that in the resurrection He will destroy death, His last enemy, and will deliver the kingdom from the earth to His Father in heaven. Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 15:24-26, 57).
